Shirley Mae (Nyerges) Rankin

Shirley Mae Rankin, 82, residing in Granger, passed away peacefully at 8:40pm on Friday, December 30, 2016 in the South Bend Hospice House. She was born May 15, 1934 in South Bend, IN to the late Joseph and Nina (Kizer) Nyerges.

She is survived by a son, Steven (Valli) Carpenter of Niles, MI; a grandchild, Kayla Carpenter; three brothers, George (Connie) Nyerges, Albert (Grace) Nyerges, and Dick (Jeanne) Nyerges, all of Granger.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Weston, as well as a brother, Robert Nyerges.

Shirley worked as an administrative assistant for the South Bend Tribune.

Friends may call for a Memorial visitation from 10:00am-12:00pm on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, 375 W. Cleveland Road, Granger, IN 46530.
