SOUTH BEND - Steven A. Horvath Jr., 75, of South Bend, passed away Thursday morning, November 7, 2013, at home with his family by his side. Steve was born Dec. 3, 1937, in Mishawaka, to the late Steven W. and Ann (Vargo) Horvath.

On December 29, 1955, he married Barbara Hentz. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Larry, and granddaughter, Bailey. He is survived by wife, Barbara; daughters, Lori Woltman of Mishawaka, and Toni Beall of Avon, IN; sons, Drew Horvath of South Bend and Greg Horvath of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, BJ Borkowski, Aubrey Heath, Michael, Corbin, and Christopher Beall and Kaylee Horvath; one great-granddaughter, Delaney Borkowski; sister, Pat (Dave) Molden; sister-in-law, Joan Horvath; sister-in-law, Judy (Jim) Konstanty; brother-in-law, James (Debi) Hentz; along with 5 nephews and 10 nieces.

Steve retired from WNDU in 1999 after 42 years of service. He was the producer director of ND football for WNDU prior to the NBC contract. In 1988, he was one of the videographers for the ND football program. He continued with that until 2010 when he was diagnosed with cancer. He also worked for SportsCrew as a freelance cameraman doing all ND sports and many other sports venues. He enjoyed hockey and coached IYHL teams and also junior varsity Clay Hockey. Steve's passion was his work and attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013, in Christ the King Church. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. The family wishes to thank Dr. James Jin and staff for their wonderful care given during his past 3 1/2 year battle. He was cared for the last few months by the Center for Hospice.
