George Melvin Barrett

George Melvin Barrett, aged 31, of 427 Dixie Way North, Roseland, this county, died at 1:30 p. m. Thursday in Veterans' hospital, Danville, Ill. Mr. Barrett became ill while serving as a private with the 37th infantry stationed in Vancouver, Wash., three years ago and has been confined to hospitals since then.

He was born Feb. 19, 1915, in Chicago, and spent most of his life this community. He was employed by Bendix Aviation corporation prior to his enlistment in the army.

Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. George J. Barrett, Roseland; three brothers, Francis N.; Bernard R., and Paul R.; six sisters, Virginia, Rosemary, Helen, Elizabeth, Barbara and Margaret, all at home.

Friends may call in the Hickey funeral home Saturday. Services are tentatively set for 9 a. m. Monday in Christ the King Catholic church. Rev. Walter S. Higgins, c. S. C., pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Niles, Mich.

He was a member of the Holy Name society of the Christ the King church and was a member of the church.
