SOUTH BEND - Sandra Laura "Sandy" Keuper, 58, of South Bend died Saturday, May 17th in her residence following a lengthy illness. Sandy was born April 8, 1956 in South Bend to the late Betty A. (Senger) and Donald E. Mohn and was a lifetime South Bend resident.
On April 4, 1981 in South Bend as Sandra L. Mohn she married Robert F. Keuper who survives. Also surviving are her two daughters, Bethany L. Keuper of South Bend and Becca A. Keuper of Mishawaka; and her brother, Jonathan M. Mohn (Stephanie) of Indianapolis. Sandy graduated from Manchester College with a Bachelor's degree in Education. She went on to complete her Master's degree at IUSB. Her early career began with teaching math at Beiger School. After the birth of her two daughters she became a full time homemaker. Sandy was a very talented person with many different hobbies. She enjoyed painting, woodworking, sewing, and gardening along with attending the local art fairs. Her home was filled with all of the things that she created and collected. She was an animal lover and considered her dogs her "children." She is a member of D.A.R. and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. In addition to being a soccer mom to her daughters she was also the wife of a Shriner. Through Shrine she and Bob traveled the country making many friends and memories. The family would like to thank The Goshen Cancer Center, Dr. Bruetman and his staff, and Southern Care Hospice for their care and compassion for Sandy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 21st in Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 51900 Mayflower Rd., South Bend with Rev. Russell Snyder officiating. Cremation will follow at Welsheimer Crematory. The family will receive friends in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. on Tuesday, May 20th from 4 until 8 p.m. and in the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 211 North Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, IL, 60707. Family and friends may leave e-mail condolences at www.welsheimer.com.
