Carlos W. Moss Dies in Texas Plane Accident Friday.

Word was received here today of the death of Flight Officer Carlos W. Moss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don M. Moss of South Bend, former Linton and Jasonville residents. The crash occurred over Del Rio, Tex., Friday night. Accompanied by Flight Officer John C. Smith of South Bend, the body of Mr. Moss, who was graduated by Washington Clay high school in the class of 1938, arrived in South Bend late today and taken to the home of his parents. Funeral services will be held from the Forrest G. Hay funeral home Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. Frank E. Davison pastor of the First Christian church officiating. Burial will be made in the Masonic cemetery at Culver where full military rites will be accorded by a detail from Culver Military Academy.

Flight Officer Moss enlisted in the Army Air Corps in September 1941 and trained at Ellington Field, Houston, Tex. He was graduated there in Sept. 1942, as a flight officer and was transferred to San Angelo, Tex., where he served as a flight instructor. Recently he volunteered for combat training and was transferred April 17 to Del Rio to train as a bomber pilot.

He was born in Jasonville on Feb. 27, 1920 and moved to South Bend in 1926. The grandparents Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Moss of Jasonville also survive

Flight Officer Moss served with the 62nd T.E.F.T. Squadron from Laughlin Army Airfield near Del Rio, Texas.

He was killed in service when B-26B Marauder #41-31725 crashed, 35 miles east of the airfield, in Kinney County, Texas.
