Margaret E. (Moss) Topper
June 13, 1920 – Feb. 3, 2006
Margaret E. Topper, 85, residing in Dowagiac, Michigan, passed away at 8:15p.m. Friday, February 3, 2006, in Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital, Dowagiac. She was born June 13, 1920, in Ashland, North Carolina, and had been a lifelong resident of northern Indiana and southern Michigan. On May 24, 1939, in South Bend, IN, as Margaret E. Moss, she married Kenneth E. Topper. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage until his passing on October 7, 2004.
Mrs. Topper is survived by her son, Raymond E. Topper Sr. of South Bend; three grandchildren, Raeann (Chad) Listenberger of Mishawaka, Ray Topper II of Niles, MI, and Jeff (Penny) Topper of South Bend. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Penny Ann (Sonny) Camparone, Megan Carlo, Samantha McQueen and Ryan Topper; and a great-great-granddaughter, Holly Sue Wuthrich.
Mrs. Topper served as a registered nurse at Saint Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka, before retirement. She graduated from Vogue Beauty College, was a dollmaker and a member of Dolls of America. She was a life member of the P.T.A., was a 4-H leader in Harris Township, and had been active as a teacher and counselor at Camp Eberhart for many years.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Ed Erskin, pastor of Northway Church of Christ, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Tuesday in the funeral home.
