Ruth Emma (Prytz) Ford

Ruth E. Ford, 66, of 13180 Towhee Lane and Diamond Lake, died at 7 p.m. Monday in Southwestern Regional Hospital, Fort Myers, Fla., after an illness. Mrs. Ford and her husband, Gordon, founded the Ford Distributing Co. of South Bend and operated it for many years.

She was born Nov. 23, 1920, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. In 1946, in South Bend, as Ruth Prytz, she married Gordon H. Ford, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter Susan Lewis of Tampa, Fla.; a son, Richard C. of South Bend; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Vernon Prytz of Diamond Lake and George Prytz of Santa Cruz, Calif.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Cremation will take place at Pitman Funeral Home, Bonita Springs, Fla.

She was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Campfire Girls, Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Turners, Knollwood Country Club, South Bend/Mishawaka Area Chamber of Commerce, Ladies of the Elks' Lodge 235 BPOE, and many other organizations. Memorial contributions may be made to Logan.
