Everett P. Ballard

MISHAWAKA - Everett Paul Ballard, 73, of Elmwood Avenue, former owner and director of Ballard Funeral Home, died at 8:50 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after an illness.
Mr. Ballard retired in 1986 as owner/director of Ballard Funeral Home and Ambulance on Mill St. Mr. Ballard had been in the funeral home business for 50 years before retiring.
He was born Jan. 10, 1919, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. On July 3, 1940, in South Bend, he married F. Evelyn Waits. She died April 16, 1971.
On Nov. 4, 1971, he married Betty Teegarden Moubray. She survives with a daughter, Carolyn Nemes of Mishawaka; five sons, Christopher Ballard and James "Pat" Ballard, both of Mishawaka, William Ballard of Tampa, Fla., Terry Ballard of Lakeville and David L. Mubray Edwardsburg; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Chester E. of Midland, Texas.
He was a member of Coalbush United Methodist Church, American Association of Retired Persons and Indiana Funeral Directors Association, and was a former member of Masonic Lodge 130.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Coalbush United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Ferrisville Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today in HahnDeVos Funeral Home and two hours services on Saturday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
