Dorothy E. (Cassells) Pozgay

Sept. 25, 1919 - July 31, 2002

Dorothy E. Pozgay, 82, formerly of Catalpa Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away Wednesday, July 31, in the Milton Home, South Bend, Ind., where she was residing.

Dorothy was born on Sept. 25, 1919, in South Bend, as the daughter of the late Samuel and Berniece (Holston) Cassells. She was also preceded in death by a stepbrother, Rodger Huff.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Phil) Skodinski of South Bend and Cathy Jaroch (Ron Di Santo) of LaGrange, III.; two sons, Larry (Marilyn) Pozgay of South Bend and Lee (Kathleen) Pozgay of Long Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Highfield, Sara and Sally Skodinski, Eric, Jesse and Spencer Pozgay; one great-grandchild, Andrew Highfield; a sister, Gladys Branco of Holstein, Iowa; and by a brother Earl (Helen) Cassells of South Bend.

Dorothy was a lifetime area resident. She was a member of South Bend and Mishawaka A.A.R.P., Immanuel Baptist Church of Mishawaka, and was a volunteer at the Leighton Center through Memorial Hospital. Dorothy also volunteered at Faith United Methodist Church in South Bend, actively participating in the Blood Pressure Clinic at the church.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., with an hour visitation prior to the service on Saturday, Aug. 3, in the Hahn Funeral Home, with Rev. Rodney Wright of Immanuel Baptist Church, Mishawaka, officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dorothy's name to the American Lung Association, 319 South Main Street, South Bend, IN 46601; or to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437.
