William Louis Christman

William L. Christman, 87, of Niles, died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at Lakeland Hospital, Niles.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Portage Prairie United Methodist Church, 2450 Orange Road, Niles, where he was a member. Private family burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, Ind. He was born on Dec. 15, 1919, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Julius and Emma (Beck) Christman.

Christmas was a retired farmer and a Mason of Masonic Lodge No. 45. He was born on Dec. 15, 1919, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Julius and Emma (Beck) Christman.

He was preceded in death by a son, Teddy; four sisters and two brothers.

On July 3, 1940, in South Bend, he married Betty Kreighbaum, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Cindy (Tom) Siewert of Niles; three grandchildren, Christopher (Michelle) Siewert of Berrien Springs, Debbie (Jim) Kline of Niles, Michele (Danny) VandeZande of Granger, Ind. and six great-grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to Portage Prairie United Methodist Church. Arrangements were by Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, South Bend, Ind.
