Helen L. (Garrett) Rudolph

MISHAWAKA — Helen L. Rudolph, 95, passed away peacefully February 2, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 22, 1918, she was the oldest of six to the late Harry Delbert and Dollie May (Cabanaw) Garrett.
On July 21, 1938, Helen married the love of her life, Stephen H. “Rudy” Rudolph. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by four siblings, Walter, Delbert, Kenneth “Ted” Garrett and Bessie M. Schmidt.
She is survived by her sister, Bonnie L. Harris of South Bend, sister-in-law, Eileen (Delbert) Garrett of South Bend.
While Helen had no children of her own, she loved children and children loved her. She was a devoted and loving Aunt and Great- Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She was also very devoted to her community and community service. She began this service as a Red Cross volunteer at Saint Joseph Hospital, which started her lifelong career as Director of Volunteer Services at St. Joseph’s until her retirement. Helen was also active in many service clubs, including the Pilot Club International and Women’s Auxiliary at St Joseph’s, the St. Joseph County Alzheimer’s Association, as well as her church, Evangel Heights. Helen will always be remembered for her love of people and spirit of giving.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 PM at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd., with the Pilot Club of South Bend conducting a service at a time to be announced later. The funeral will be held on Friday, February 7th. at Evangel Heights at 1:30 PM, with visitation one hour prior.Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
