Viola Mae (Goss) Pollitt

Viola Mae Pollitt, 52, of Dixie Way N., died at 11:50 a.m.  Friday in Osteopathic Hospital after an illness of one month. She was co-owner and operator of the 31 Inn. She was born on June 5, 1917, in Clinton, Okla.. residing in South Bend for 47 years.

On June 27, 1936, in South Bend she was married to Gerny Pollitt, who survives. Also surviving are her father, W. C. Goss: a daughter, Mrs. Paul Tennyson; two grandchildren; a brother, Charles Goss, and two sisters, Mrs. Howard Pingel and Mrs. Hubert Snyder, all of South Bend.

Friends may call 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 from 7 to and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Welsheimer North Chapel, 52803 Services will be held at U.S. 31. 10 a.m. Monday in the Welsheimers Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., Rev. L. Paul Harris, pastor of Community Congregational  Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

She was a charter member of the Clay Township Volunteer Fire Department Auxilliary and the Indiana State Tavern Association
