Eldred "Red" Young

Red Young, 70 ENNIS - Retired chemical engineer and Idaho-New Zealand resident Eldred "Red" Young, 70, died Thursday while fishing at Quake Lake on the Upper Madison River. He was born Feb. 5, 1918, in Great Falls to John and Elise (Tavernier) Young. He later earned a doctorate in chemical engineering from Notre Dame and worked for Shell Oil Co.at Martinez, Calif. He retired at the age of 53. For the past 40 years, Mr. Young spent his summers in the Henry's Lake, Idaho, area near West Yellowstone, and for the past 16 winters he lived in New Zealand.
He is survived by a sister, Frances Hamilton of Port Angeles, Wash. It was Mr. Young's request that no services be held.
