Mark R. BRUMBAGH, 81, of 19553 Darden Road, South Bend died at 9:14 a.m. Saturday at South Bend Healthwin Hospital. His wife, Zedda M. BRUMBAUGH, 76, died about 14 hours later, at 10:59 p.m. Saturday, at South Bend Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Brumbaugh was born Sept. 14, 1908 in Wells County to Edward M. and Pearl RARICK BRUMBAUGH. He retired after 47 years as a mathematics and science teacher, including several years at Grass Creek. He was a graduate of Manchester College and received his master's degree from Indiana University. He was a member and a former director of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. He was a life member of the National Education Association, a past-president of the South Bend Teachers Association, a past-president of the St. Joseph County Retired Teachers Association, a member and past-president of the Clay Township Lions Club, and a member of the Central United Methodist Church, South Bend.

Mrs. Brumbaugh was born July 6, 1913 in Fulton County to Otto W. and Edna KISSLER APPLEGATE. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary oif the Lions Club and a member and financial secretary of the Central United Methodist Church. The couple was married July 28, 1935 in Grass Creek, and moved from Tyner to South Bend 43 years ago. Surviving the Brumbaughs are a daughter, Mary Kay BRUMBAUGH, South Bend; a son, David [BRUMBAUGH], Sharpsville, and two grandchildren. Also surviving Mr. Brumbaugh are two sisters, Doris RUTENBEEG, Roanoke, and Ruth SMITH, Markle; two brothers, Paul [BRUMBAUGH], Markle, and James [BRUMBAUGH], Seatte, Wash. Also surviving Mrs. Brumbaugh is a sister, Vivian CRIPPEN, Kewanna. Preceding the Brumbaughs in death were two grandchildren, in 1969. Also preceding Mrs. Brumbaugh was a sister. Visitation for the couple will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at the Grass Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sunday School of the Air, c/o Central United Methodist Church, Box 222, South Bend, 46624.
