Morgan Bodle Jr. Obituary
September 24, 1943 ~ June 10, 2024 (age 80)
Morgan Dennis Bodle Jr., or Denny as he was known by his family and friends, passed away on June 10,2024, at the age of 80. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Denny was born on August 24,1943, in Mishawaka, Indiana. He attended Ball State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial arts education in 1966, as well as a master’s degree in education and administration in 1968. He was also a member of the Theta XI fraternity. While attending Ball State, Denny met the love of his life, Carol Ann Nussbaum (Remington, IN). They were married in July of 1966. After graduation, they moved to South Bend, Indiana, where they were both hired by South Bend Community School Corporation.
Denny began his educational career at Jackson High School as an industrial Arts teacher. His career spanned various positions, including industrial arts, cooperative education, and administration. In 1999, he retired after 31 years of dedication to the south bend schools. As a co-op teacher, Denny had the opportunity to shape and encourage the lives of so man students, especially those that chose to pursue careers in skilled trades. Former students still see him around town or online and keep him updated on their lives and successes. These Success stories show the positive impact he had on the lives of so many in his pursuit to leave the world a little better than when he came into it.
In his free time, Denny enjoyed many activities and hobbies. Whether it was snowmobiling in the winter, salmon fishing on Lake Michigan with his family and friends in the spring, restoring classic cars in the summer, or cheering for Notre Dame sports in the fall, Denny was a man of many interests and talents. He was also a skilled builder with an eye for design. He built and supervised the construction of several homes over the years, including his own home where he lived with his wife and two sons for over 40 years. Later in life, he enjoyed renovating his homes in both Indiana and Florida, and he discovered his love of flowers and gardening, growing and caring for many plants including palm trees, pineapple bushes, and kumquat trees. Most importantly, he treasured the time with his family and friends during all these activities, creating memories to last a lifetime.
Denny was preceded in death by his son Kevin (Sara Diamond), his brother Thomas, and his parents, Morgan Dennis Bodle Sr. and Mary (Van Rie). He is survived by his loving wife Carol, his son Kerry (Laura Jozaites), his grandsons Morgan and Evan, his sister Beverly (Richard Wroblewski), his sister Mary Beth (Philip Hamilton), and several Nieces and nephews. A private graveside service is planned for close family members.
