John T. Bariger

John Thomas Bariger, 76, of Calvert Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, in his residence.
John was born on Feb. 13, 1924, in South Bend, to Frank and Anna Bariger, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Hunsberger; and by a brother, Frank Bariger.
John retired from Transpo in 1988 as a bus driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. John was also an avid rum and pool player.
On Dec. 31, 1974, in South Bend, John married Evelyn M. Hook, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Jonna Rae of Fishers, Ind.; a son, Rex Bariger of Spencer, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Henderson of South Bend and Gloria Woods of Hohenwald, Tenn.; one stepson, David Hook of South Bend; six step grandchildren; and by three sisters, Irene Furstenau of Union, Mich., Margaret Shearer of Houston, Texas, and Rosemarie Blount of South Bend.
Services will be at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, Ind., where friends may call from 3 p.m. until service time. Sam Oliver will officiate the service. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
