Charles E. Mason

Charles E. Mason, 51, of 524 Rockwood St., LaPorte, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in his home of an apparent heart attack.
He was a school teacher and recently was employed in Nova Scotia. He had also taught at Clay High School, and in Walkerton and Kingsbury schools.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1930, in North Liberty and lived in LaPorte one year, coming from Canada.
On June 20, 1964, in South Bend, he married Joyce M. Glass. She survives with two daughters, Jeanette and Jane, and two sons, Gene and Glen, all at home; and two sisters, Dr. Naiad Thompson of Aurora, Colo., and Mrs. Elizabeth Greenwood of Hudson, Mass.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the A.M. Manuel Funeral Home in North Liberty, with Major David Amick of the La Porte Salvation Army officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was a graduate of North Liberty High School and Indiana University, Bloomington.
