Shirley Joan Ernsperger (Myers) - Class Of 1954 VIEW PROFILE

Shirley Joan Ernsperger (Myers)

Shirley Joan (Ernsperger) Myers

April 23, 1936 ~ April 22, 2026 (age 89)

Our dear mother sadly passed on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the age of 89. One day shy of her 90th birthday.  She was a mother who was always there when we needed her.  She brought much joy, laughter, and love to our life and our world was complete because of her.

She was born on April 23, 1936, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Fay and Leota Ernsperger.  Graduating from the former Washington-Clay High School (South Bend) in 1954.  She had sweet memories from being a teen model, a carhop (on roller skates) at the historical Chauncey Drive-in to flying on an airplane (for the first time) with her best friend to Washington DC upon graduation.  She would talk about these memories often.

In 1955, she married our dad, Jerry Weldy. They were blessed with and raised three daughters, Terri (Terry) Adams, Osceola; Sheryl (Edwin) Galbreath and Linda (Randy Rutishauser) Kisrow; both of South Bend.  Besides being blessed with her three daughters, she was blessed with two granddaughters, Traci Tafelski and Ashley Filley, two grandsons, Justin (Mollie) Kisrow and Ryan (Brittany) Kisrow, and eight great-children, Austin (Abby) Kisrow, Ava Kisrow, Madison Filley (fiancé Jacob Sullivan), Bella Filley, Emma Tafelski, Lea Tafelski, Braylon Kisrow, and Grayson Kisrow, and one great great granddaughter, Hayden Kisrow, whom her love for each of them was immeasurable. In 2005, she married a special guy, Russ Myers, and welcomed with open arms a loving extended family, Lynn Bruntz, Ohio and Mark (Tonya) Myers, Texas, grandchildren Nichole (Brian) Jackson, Tyler, Justin (Tara), Kayla (Adam Juckniewitz) and four great grandchildren.    Mom made her home with Russ in Mesa, Arizona.  She enjoyed the gorgeous weather, had her morning coffee by their pool, and marveled at the amazing scenery everyday.  She was a member of Generation Church where she had many friends that she and Russ shared extensive time traveling with, attending gospel concerts, and playing dominoes as well as, many games of hand and foot (canasta game).

Being raised in the former Calvary Temple-South Bend with Rev. Lester Sumrall as the pastor, it made a lasting impression on her.  Later in life at the Christian Center, she would become Rev. Sumrall’s executive assistant for many years, which again, had a profound and lasting impact on her. While living in Texas, she entered the broadcasting field working in radio. She loved the industry, where she met many country artists and earned several marketing awards in broadcasting. After dad passed in 1996, she moved back to the area where her daughters lived. It would be no surprise that she worked and ended her career at WHME-TV 46 as National Sales director, working alongside Peter Sumrall.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 20 years, her three daughters, three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. Her extended family,  brothers, Bill (Janice) Ernsperger of Granger and Matthew (Charlotte) Ernsperger of Florida, several Nieces and Nephews, and many, many friends.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents, are grandson, Ryan Kisrow, her sister Loretta Johnson, and brother Richard Ernsperger.
