Terry Paul Allen Sr.

Terry P. Allen, Sr., 75 years old, passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 24, 2018, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Terry was born on January 25, 1943 in Mishawaka to the late Rex and Pauline (Anderson) Allen. He has lived in South Bend most of his life. On April 8, 1967 in Waukegan, IL, Terry and Jean E. Lord were united in marriage.
Along with his loving wife of 51 years, Jean, he is survived by their children, Leslie R. (Darrin) Pluta of Springboro, OH, and Terry P. (Lori) Allen, Jr. of South Bend; five grandchildren, Chris Pluta, Nick Pluta, Maddie Pluta, Josh Allen, and Ben Allen; and one brother, Tom Allen of Granger.
Terry retired in 2004 from the City of South Bend as a police officer where he served for 35 years. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #36. Terry proudly served his country with the United States Army.
Terry’s greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He adored his grandkids and took great pride in them and their enthusiasm for all of their activities. Terry was an avid golfer, as well as, a long-standing member of the Elbel Park Men’s Golf Club. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packer’s fan and regularly sported their colors of green and gold.
A gathering for family and friends will take place on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the South Bend Elks Lodge #235, located at 3535 E. McKinley Avenue in South Bend. Military honors will be performed at 5:00 p.m. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Terry P. Allen, Sr. may be donated to St. Joseph Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 14301, or to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, two causes that were very important to him.
