Dennis E. Tam, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023, in Mishawaka, IN, the same city where he was born on July 20, 1946. He was 76 years old. Dennis was known for his kind heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering support for his family and friends.

Dennis was a proud graduate of Clay High School, where he excelled in academics and formed lifelong friendships. After high school, he bravely served his country as a United States Army veteran in the Vietnam War. His dedication and courage were a testament to his strong character and love for his nation. Upon returning from his service, Dennis embarked on a 30-year career at Honeywell (Bendix Corp.), where he was known for his hard work, reliability, and commitment to the company.

Dennis was an avid sports fan, and his passion for Notre Dame Women's basketball was evident to all who knew him. As a season ticket holder, he rarely missed a game and could often be found cheering on his favorite team with enthusiasm and pride. Dennis's love for sports extended beyond basketball; he also enjoyed participating in 5 and 10k races during his younger years and even dabbled in canoe racing.

In addition to his love for sports, Dennis held a deep appreciation for nature and wildlife. He was a regular visitor to the Potawatomi Zoo, where he held a season pass every year. Dennis found solace in walking through the zoo, admiring the animals and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

Dennis is survived by his loving sisters, Sandra Lehman of Edwardsburg, and Glenda Sachman of Mishawaka. He was a cherished uncle to his niece, Carrie Thompson of South Bend, and nephew, John (Nicole) Lehman of Edwardsburg. Dennis also leaves behind a host of great nieces and nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews, who will miss his warmth and guidance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen D. Tam and Harriet A. (Duncan) Tam, and niece, Tara (Lehman) Miller, who is survived by Terry Miller.

Funeral services for Dennis will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2023, at Palmer Funeral Home – Welsheimer North Chapel, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside service with military honors will follow at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dennis's memory to the Potawatomi Zoo, 500 S. Greenlawn Ave, South Bend, IN 46615 or the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Pl, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
