Virginia M. Riedel

SOUTH BEND - Virginia M. Riedel, 93 years old, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away at 1:20 AM Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Hospice House, South Bend. She was born on July 24, 1922, in Hidalgo, Illinois to Joseph and Wilma (Brooks) Chapman.
On July 11, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri she was united in marriage to Herbert E. Riedel and they enjoyed 64 years together. Herbert preceded her in death on October 30, 2006.
Virginia was employed at Studebaker Corporation and later at Torrington Company, South Bend.
Virginia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Tom Shaw of South Bend; her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Erma Riedel of Buchanan, TN; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Al) Kreske, Thomas Shaw, Jr., Lorie (George) Charles and Eric Riedel; eight great-grandchildren, Corey Charles, Keely Charles, Addison Charles, Lauren Cernak, Morgan Cernak, Alex Kreske, Jason Kreske and Lucas Kreske; three sisters, Wanda Jean (Robert) Zoller of Middlebury, and Norma Jo Boxell and Janet Young both of Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, where friends may visit with the family from 10 AM until time of services. Rev. Greg Crump will officiate. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
