Edward G. Borkowski

Edward G. Borkowski, 40, of South Bend, Ind., passed away following a courageous battle with Leukemia, Thursday morning in Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 15, 1958 in South Bend to Robert G. and Betty A. Glad) Borkowski, who both preceded him in death.
On Nov. 11, 1989, Ed married the former Deborah M. Higginbotham who survives. He is also survived by his children, Alleynah M. and Austin J. Borkowski; two sisters, Kathryn L. Borkowski of Madison, Wis., and Anne M. Borkowski of Rhode Island; and by his brother, John R. of Studio City, Calif.
Ed worked for the Big C. Lumber Company in the South Bend/Elkhart Area as a sales contractor. He took pride in his work and valued his relationships with all his customers.
He was the immediate past chairman of the Parade of Homes Association of Elkhart County. He was recently honored as the Builders Associations Man of the Year. Ed had passion for his family and his friends. He loved his wife and children and always put the concerns of others first. He reminded us that the petty things didn't really matter, And as chairman emeritus of the Big Beaver Yacht Club and chief mechanic for the Billy Bob Racing Team, he treated each day as a new adventure.
He touched the hearts of many and will be missed by all who knew him.
A mass of resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 10 in the Christ the King Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Glockner C.S.C. officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. A wake prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday in the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made for the children's educational future and can be made in there names, Alleynah M. and Austin J. Borkowski to any Key Bank location
