Dale Fietzek

Dale T. Fietzek

Dale T. Fietzek, passed away on September 9, 2024, in Mishawaka, at the age of 74 after a brief battle with cancer. Born on March 4, 1950, in South Bend, Dale was the son of the late Leonard and Sylvia (Blum) Fietzek.

Dale was a proud graduate of Clay High School, where he made many friendships and developed a strong work ethic that would serve him well throughout his life. On August 31, 1985, he was united in marriage to Hazel Jean (Huff) Fietzek, who preceded him in death on May 28, 2012. Together, they created a loving home where they raised their combined families.

Dale proudly carried on the family legacy by owning and operating Leonard's Termite and Pest Control, a respected third-generation company founded by his father. A business that not only served the community but also provided a valuable learning environment for his family. Beyond his professional achievements, Dale was a man of many interests and talents. An extremely hard worker, he also knew the importance of enjoying life's pleasures. He was an avid poker player, a hobby that brought him great joy. Dale's love for travel was ignited by the many adventures he shared with his beloved wife, Hazel. Together, they explored new places and created memories that Dale would cherish forever.

A true Notre Dame fan, Dale's enthusiasm for the Fighting Irish was infectious, and game days were always a special occasion in the Fietzek household. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing, especially for bluegill, which provided him with both relaxation and excitement. Dale's culinary skills were another source of joy for him and those lucky enough to enjoy his creations. He loved to bake, and his kitchen was often filled with the delicious aromas of his latest creations. His fascination with trains was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his appreciation for history and the simpler pleasures of life. An animal lover at heart, Dale's compassion extended to all creatures great and small. His playful spirit shone brightly when he dressed up as the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus for his granddaughter, Kendyl.

Dale's wisdom and guidance were invaluable to his family. He was the best teacher of life, imparting lessons not only through his words but also through his actions. His intelligence and practical knowledge were gifts that he generously shared, enriching the lives of those around him.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Kimberly Fietzek of Edwardsburg, and Corey (Abby) Fietzek of Niles; stepchildren, Robin (Jim) Aranowski and Mike (Margie) Milewski both of South Bend; grandchildren, Shaun, Sammantha, Jayci, Madelynn, Jonathon Fietzek, Kendyl Nevill, Ethon, and Alexis Whitt; a sister, Karen (Bill) Linn; and a brother-in-law, Gene Whittman. Dale was preceded in death by his son, Scott Fietzek and sister, Trudy Whittman.
