TERRY L. BECKER

SOUTH BEND - Terry L. Becker, 51, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007, following a courageous battle with multiple systems atrophy, a very rare autonomic disease. He was employed with W.W. Grainger, South Bend, for over 18 years, and also co-owned For Pets Sake Pet Grooming Shop. Terry was born on March 2, 1955, in Aurora, IL, to Edward and Barbara (Gee) Becker, and had lived in the South Bend area most of his life.

On April 3, 1976, in South Bend, IN, he married DiAnn S. (Schreiber) Becker, the love of his life, who survives. Also surviving are his father, Edward Becker of Cassopolis, MI; two brothers, Gary (Sally) Becker of Mishawaka and Barry (Sharon) Becker of Alpena, MI; his mother-in-law, Shirley Wright of South Bend; a brother-in-law, Philip (Julie) Schreiber of Granger; a sister-in-law, Leesa Schreiber of South Bend; nieces and nephews, Mark, Andrew, Mike (Jessica) and their children, Avery and Keigan; Edward II, Sarah, Barbara, Barry II, Brandon and Brady.

Terry graduated from Clay High School in 1973. He served as a Navy corpsman for 10 years. He received his red belt in Tae Kwon Do. He was an avid cyclist and enjoyed science, reading, astronomy, ballroom dancing and travel. He loved his four-legged family and named his dogs after famous scientists and philosophers: Angus, Loatzu, Isaac, Keppler, Avogadro and Lance.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 24, 2007, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN. Rev. Greg Crump will officiate. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 PM today in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Terry L. Becker may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
