Luis Lou Morales

Luis "Lou" Morales

September 27, 1955 ~ September 20, 2024 (age 68)

Luis “Lou” Morales peacefully slipped from this world, on September 20, 2024, just one week short of his 69th birthday.  A lifelong resident of Saint Joseph County, Indiana, Lou was born on September 27, 1955.  His father, Bruno Morales, was an immigrant from Aquila, Mexico.  His mother, Esther Lorraine (Swank) Morales, was born and raised in Galien, Michigan.  He was preceded in death by both parents and by his older brother, Ralph Morales, of Tacoma, Washington.

Growing up, Lou loved the outdoors and was active in scouting.  He spent his summers, in a cabin, on Hamlin Lake, near Ludington Michigan.  He developed passions for fishing and boating, which he continued to share with friends, throughout most of his life.

Lou was a resident of Roseland, Indiana and proud graduate of Clay High School, class of 1973.  He became a Master Brewer, at the Siebel Institute, in Chicago, Illinois.  He worked in a brewery and planned to start his own brewpub.  He took great pride in crafting his own signature homebrewed beers, which he generously shared with others, much to the delight of his friends and family.

Lou’s interests lead him through a variety of professions.  In addition to brewing, he also managed a restaurant, made bread in a bakery and assembled RV’s.  The majority of his career was spent working in building maintenance, at Scottsdale Mall and Saint Mary’s College.

Lou's passion for music was unmatched.  His extensive collection of records and CD’s was a testament to his love for the art form.  His stereo was nearly always playing.  He introduce others to a wide range of music and artist.

Lou’s gardens were a source of joy and pride.  In the summers, he spent countless hours nurturing his plants, creating a vibrant oasis, full of flowers, fruits and vegetables.

Though Lou was a lifelong bachelor, he will be deeply missed by those who knew him.  He cherished the friendships and deep connections he had with many companions he kept, through his entire life.  Thankfully, Lou is now at peace and is free from years of suffering due to debilitating medical issues.

Keeping with Lou’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no public services will be held.
