MICHAEL R. VICKREY

Michael R. Vickrey Sept. 13, 1942 - Oct. 8, 2015 NILES - Michael R. Vickrey, 73, of Niles, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday, October 8, 2015. Mike was born on September 13, 1942, in Mishawaka, IN, to the late Lloyd P. and Beverly R. (Bartlett) Vickrey.

On August 31, 1968, Mike married the former Meredith "Midge" A. Powell at Christ the King Lutheran Church in South Bend. Mike and Midge were married for 47 years. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Midge, and his son, Todd (Nicola) Hersh-berger of Conover, N.C. Mike was a grandfather to 3 granddaughters, Kate, Grace and Madeline Hershberger. Mike is also survived by his sister, Carla Jaworski of Portage, IN, and sisters-in-law, Beverly (Fred) Placka of Phoenix, AZ, and Linda (Doug) Overman of Granger, IN.

Mike was preceded in death by his son, Troy Hershberger, and his sister-in-law, Annette Merrill.

Mike graduated from Clay High School in South Bend, IN, in 1960. He then received a Bachelor Degree in business from IUSB. Mike served his country in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam era. Mike retired as a Chief Financial Officer after 32 years of service from the Selmer Company which produced musical instruments. He enjoyed listening to music, gardening and reading. Mike and Midge would travel to the United States historic cities and hotels. Mike and Midge previously attended the Zion Lutheran Church in Bristol, IN.

A private graveside service will be held in the mausoleum at the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. The family requested, in lieu flowers, that donations be made to the donor's choice. Bubb Funeral Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
