Marye Lynn Crawford (Mathieu)

Marye Lynn Mathieu

Feb. 9, 1944 - Sep. 28, 2021

MARYE LYNN MATHIEU, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and community servant, passed away Tuesday morning September 28, 2021. She was 77 years old. Marye leaves a lasting legacy of love and dedication to her family, community and Menominee Schools.

Marye was born in South Bend, Indiana February 9, 1944. She married Jon David Mathieu on September 12, 1964. After brief stints in Anderson, Indiana and Pontiac, Michigan, Marye settled with her young family in Menominee. Family and community service were Marye's passions.

She became a master school board member with over 700 education credits. She served on the Menominee School Board for 37 years.

For the past 40 years Marye has dedicated herself to the Menominee Maroon Booster Club. From taking tickets, to working the concession stand, to providing Maroon clothing and accessories, Marye has been a constant supporter of Maroon athletics. Other duties included handling picture orders, making arrangements for state tournament runs, handling fan buses, calling volunteers to work events, working with athletic directors for school needs like uniforms, equipment or any items the school budget couldn't cover. Marye also organized yearly fundraising efforts like the Booster Blast and put on the senior athletic banquet. She helped organize and provided labor for work projects at our sports facilities. If you had worn a picture button or a customized jersey, Marye probably made the button herself, and she spent countless hours on the phone filling clothing orders. Menominee sports has forever been enriched thanks to Marye's tireless efforts.

Despite all the hours dedicated to community service, Marye was first and foremost a loving wife and mother. She raised 4 children, Dave (Sherry), Dan (Nancy), Carrie (Drew) and Josh (Nikki), and helped raise her 8 grandchildren. Family gatherings were centered around Marye's home, her cooking, and hospitality. If anyone ever needed anything, Marye was determined to help out or find a solution. She instilled in her family a strong sense of community spirit that will last for generations.

Marye was also involved in M&M youth hockey, was chairman of the Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship Program, and was a member of Holy Spirit Church.

Marye was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sue Meijer, and son Josh.

Visitation for Marye will be held at Cadieu Funeral Home on Thursday September 30, 2021 from 5:00 pm until time of prayer service at 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for the repose of the soul of Marye Lynn Mathieu on Friday October 1, 2021 at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Abraham Mupparathara presiding. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Marye's name benefiting the Maroon Booster Club and DAR Boys and Girls Club. Any expression s may be directed to Dave Mathieu.
