On December 25, 2021, Jim lost his battle against leukemia and passed away at his home in Inglewood California.
He was born on June 8, 1943 in South Bend, Indiana. He spent his early years in South Bend and graduated from Washington Clay High School in 1961. He attended Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana 1961 – 1963 then transferred to the University of California Los Angeles graduating with a BA Degree. He subsequently earned a Law Degree at the San Fernando Valley College of Law. He was a member of the California State Bar Association.
Jim spent his adult life in California. He was a long term resident of Inglewood. He practiced Law, invested in and managed apartment building and commercial property. Jim volunteered his time supporting many political causes to benefit and improve the lives of those less fortunate.
He will be missed by family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife Tan ly Cao of Inglewood, California; his brother Theodore (Ted) DeMaegt of San Antonio, Texas and his sister Sally Ann Dunlop of Livermore, California.
