James E. Grabowski
March 26, 1943 ~ November 21, 2024 (age 81)
James E. Grabowski, 81 years old, passed away at 4:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. Jim was born on March 26, 1943 in South Bend to the late Ernest and Pearl (Gerard) Grabowski. He has been a lifelong resident. On October 14, 1961 in South Bend, James and Judith L. Verhostra were united in marriage.
Along with Judy, his loving wife of 63 years, Jim is survived by their three children, Kim Bope of Bremen, Wendy (Bob) Roeder of Bremen, and Randy (Debbie) Grabowski of Lakeville; ten grandchildren, Tyler (Jill) Schmeltz, Ellen (Joe) Beehler, Erica (Kevan) Secrist, Elaine (Jordan) Annis, Stuart Schmeltz, Katie (Kyle) Mason, Heather (Garrett) Day, Jessica Grabowski, Tom Grabowski, and Christina Grabowski; and fourteen great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Rosie Grabowski of Granger.
Jim retired from Pepsi Cola after 35 years of employment. He has been a lifelong self-employed farmer. Some of Jim’s favorite things were collecting Oliver tractors, making hay, and watching the Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Football. Jim loved spending time with his family and his dogs. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held in the Chapel at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, November 24th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville, IN.
