Robert Lynn Milliken, Jr.

May 8, 1944 - Nov. 15, 2021

Robert "Bob" L. Milliken, Jr., 77, of Coatesville passed away on November 15, 2021 surrounded by loved ones.

Born in South Bend, Indiana, he was the son of the late Winifred Ilene (McDivitt) Milliken Lant and Robert L. Milliken, Sr.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1970 and was deployed in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967. After college and moving to Pennsylvania, he served four years in the Active Reserves.

After active duty, he attended Charleston Institute of Technology and received his Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Throughout his professional career, he served in various leadership positions and at the time of his retirement was President of Underground Services, a sub-surface utility engineering firm. Post-retirement, he stayed within the industry working with InfraMap Corporation as a Consultant.

Bob was a member of Olivet United Methodist Church and had served on various committees during his forty-five years as a member and as a Trustee.

He was an active member of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) and served as Delaware Valley president in 2007 - 2008 and the American Society of Civil Engineers where he received the 'Engineering Manager of the Year' award in 2012.

In the spirit of service, after his retirement, Bob served pro bono as the Interim Executive Director of the Chester County Association for the Blind, was an active member of the Coatesville Area Lions Club, serving as President from 2016 - 2017, was a member of the Brandywine - Goddard Lodge #383, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Reading, served as President of the Chester County Consistory Club, a division of the Scottish Rite, a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Vietnam Veterans of America organizations.

He loved boating and held a U.S. Coast Guard Captains License along with a 100 ton Masters Certificate.

By virtue of the admirable and generous accomplishments above, Bob epitomized service, family, friendship, and patriotism. He is a true hero to all who have known him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Paul Lant.

Bob is survived by his wife of fifty-three years: Patricia Milliken; his daughter: Lori Burns (Chris); his son: Rob Milliken (Melanie); his granddaughter: Brenna Burns; his sisters: Sandy Ellis, Donna Wysocki (Mike), and Janet Simbeck (Donny); his brothers: Keith Lant (Peggy), John Milliken (Karen), and Mike Milliken (Kari); and, his nieces and nephews.

A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 04:00 - 06:00 PM on Sunday, November 21, 2021 in James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown.

A private Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 22, 2021 in James Terry Funeral Home, Downingtown.

Interment will be held privately in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
