Daniel A Badur

Daniel A. Badur

South Bend - October 15, 1963 – November 22, 2021

Daniel A. Badur, 58, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 12:11 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.

He was born on October 15, 1963 to Jerome and Barbara (Kalicki) Badur in South Bend, IN, and has lived his whole life in South Bend, with the exception of four years in Indianapolis, IN. His father, Jerome Badur preceded him in death.

Dan graduated in 1982 from Clay High School in South Bend. He then moved to Indianapolis, IN to complete his computer training to become a Computer Programmer Analyst, and fulfill an Internship at Mayflower Van Lines in Indianapolis, IN. Dan then moved back to South Bend and worked as a Computer Programmer Analyst at Honeywell from 1990-2002 before being elected the German Township Trustee, where he held office from 2002-2006.

Dan was always a positive, upbeat spirit. There was no one that didn't like or love him, and no one that he would ever not help in any way that he could. His favorite thing that he "loved to hate" was his computer and technology, which was his education, talent, and passion. His family was his biggest joy, especially the nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. They always brought the biggest smiles and laughs to him. His other joy was fishing, which he did every chance he got, especially with his brother from another mother, Jim Meckley, whom became his best friend 25 years ago from a newspaper ad Danny posted looking for a fishing buddy to allow him to fish. Dan, his friends and cousins created a special reel set to allow Dan to reel in his own fish. He later turned his hobby of fishing into a non-profit business duplicating the reel set that they created. Daniel and his partner Jim founded Fishing Abilities, Inc. in 2012 until present, which assists other disabled individuals to be able to fish again and reel in their own fish.

Dan is survived by his mother, Barbara Badur of South Bend, IN; a sister, Debbie (Paul Rogers) Ulch of Port Orange, Fl; a brother, Dennis (Michele) Badur of South Bend, IN; three nieces, Samantha (James) Bradbury; Kara Badur; Kasie (Will) Badur; one nephew, Kelden (Nicole) Badur; and his great nieces and great nephews, Ranelle, Alex, Serenity, Tony, Sincere, McKennah, Isaac, Malahky, Jeryson, and Bryce.

Dan was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in South Bend, IN. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and later in life learned to enjoy reading.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Glenn Kohrman officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
