Vicki Lee (Peterson) Stockton
December 18, 1963 ~ January 12, 2025 61 Years Old
Vicki Lee Stockton, who embodied kindness and selflessness throughout her life, passed away after a long illness on January 12, 2025, at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., leaving behind a legacy of love. Born on December 18, 1963, in South Bend, IN, she brought joy and sweetness into the lives of all who knew her, both through her personality and her work as a cherished baker at Charles Street Bakery.
Vicki grew up in South Bend, Indana and attended Clay High School. On September 24, 1982, she married Dennis Stockton in South Bend, Indiana. She gave birth to David James Lee Stockton on March 26, 1992. Vicki was a devoted United States Air Force spouse for 20 years, giving up friends and plans everytime the military moved her husband.
Vicki completed her education with an Associate's Degree that served as the foundation for her professional journey. Married to her devoted husband, Dennis Stockton of La Plata, Vicki's life was a testament to the power of caring and generosity.
She was preceded in death by Duane Peterson (father), Martha Odusch (grandmother) and James Moorehead (step father). She is survived by her mother, Patricia (Hunter) Moorehead, Denny Stockton (Husband), David Stockton (Son), sisters, Sheri (Joseph-deceased) Shoemaker, LuAnn Thomas (Doug), Jennifer Reasor and brother, David Shoemaker (Debra); sister-in-law, Beth Heaston (Jeff-deceased), as well as, many nieces and nephews, life-long friends George Scott, of Laplata, Maryland, Gary Scott Sr of Arizona, Robin and Dave Rose of Laplata, Maryland, and Joanne Husk of Delaware. Vicki's remarkable spirit will be celebrated and remembered for enriching our lives with every cake she baked and every smile she shared. Vicki was truly one of a kind and her luminous heart will be dearly missed.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 10:00 a.m.-noon at Palmer Funeral Home-Welsheimer Chapel,17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend IN 46635. A service will be held at noon. Interment will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery.
