Shalanda Nicole "NikkI" Jackson

April 24, 1978 ~ May 26, 2020 (age 42)

Shalanda Jackson, affectionately known to many as “Nikki”, gained her wings on May 26, 2020, surrounded by loving family and friends. Shalanda was born on April 24, 1978 in Chicago, Illinois to Gayle Williams and Gregory Jackson.  Shalanda was born five minutes before her twin sister, Monica Jackson, which gave her bragging rights as the “big sister”.  

Shalanda was a long time resident of South Bend, Indiana, where she graduated from Clay High School.  She later furthered her education in the medical field attending Ivy Tech Community College and Southwestern Michigan. Shalanda also ventured out and resided in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, Indiana where she worked tirelessly in many medical professions until her illness.   

Shalanda leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Tyler Jackson and Tiyana Jackson of South Bend, IN; her mother, Gayle Davis and father, Gregory Jackson of South Bend, IN;  grandson Jonah Jackson; twin sister Monica Jackson; brother Revel Woods; and sister Chantel Jackson, all of South Bend, IN; niece Mikayla Crumbley and nephew Brailen Fleming;  uncles Patrick (Nicole) Williams, Christopher Williams, Gloston (Diane) Jackson, Floyd Jackson, Douglas (Shreerita) Jackson, Dewayne Jackson and Ray Jackson, all of South Bend, IN;  aunt Nancy Williams of St. Louis, Missouri; god mother Kathy Mincey; god sisters Nina Mincey, Cher Mincey and Charla Scott of South Bend, IN. and Steven Mincey Sr. of Minnesota; along with a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins and a countless amount of friends.

Shalanda was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Gloston and Alvergie Jackson and maternal grandparents Pete and Grace Williams; along with an aunt, Lynn Jackson. 

Shalanda was a member of the Redding Family reunion.  Shalanda left an everlasting impact on all who knew her.  Her smile,  humor, hospitality and zest to have fun in life will be missed by everyone she came into contact with

Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 1232 E. Bronson St, South Bend, IN. 46615.  Services will begin at 12pm with viewing one hour prior to service.  Arrangements have been entrusted by Palmers Funeral Homes - West Chapel. Donations may be made to the family care of Palmer Funeral Homes - West Chapel, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628.
