GRANGER - Susan Kay Marvel, 57, of Granger, IN, passed away on Sunday, November 29, in her residence. She was born on September 12, 1952, in South Bend, IN, to the late Ruth (Rodgers) and Joseph Houston.

On August 12, 1972, in Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend, she married David Allen Marvel, who survives. Susan is also survived by a daughter, Alison Susan Marvel of Granger; a son, Thomas David Marvel of South Bend, and his fiancée, Bethany Ann Ginther of Elkhart, IN; three sisters, Barbara Reasor, Patricia Egendoerfer and Linda Bennett, all of South Bend; and a brother, Richard Houston of Elkhart.

Susan was a secretary/treasurer for Penn-Harris-Madison Schools. She was a 1970 graduate of Clay High School, South Bend. Susan loved family vacations and taking pictures in national parks. She was an avid collector of Annalee dolls and enjoyed baking. Susan was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister and friend, and will be greatly and sadly missed by all of those whose lives she touched.

A memorial Mass for Susan will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, in the St. Joseph Chapel at Holy Cross Village on the campus of Holy Cross College, Notre Dame, IN. There will be no visitation. Welsheimer Family Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 601 West Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
