Katherine Bush Hunt

Feb. 8, 1951 - April 12, 2019

SOUTH BEND, IN - Kathy Hunt of South Bend passed away peacefully with her family at her side. She was born in South Bend on February 8, 1951 to Mary and Dewey Bush. She graduated from Clay High School. Shortly after high school she married Billy Ray Hunt from Tennessee who unfortunately passed away at a young age. Kathy then single-handedly raised their two sons, Joe and Danny Hunt of South Bend. Kathy's surviving sibling is Lori (Bush) Rustman of South Bend. Her brother, Eddie Bush preceded her in death.

Kathy and her husband Billy both worked for the Indiana Toll Road. After that, Kathy enjoyed working at Healthwin Hospital of South Bend, caring for elderly people. She would bring clothing items to the residents that did not have any family.

Kathy's number one job was that of being a mother to her two sons who loved her so much. She was very involved and dedicated in both of their lives and business adventures. She was well known for making awesome homemade soups at The Filling Station Bar and Grill that she and her son Joe owned and loved. She helped create the layout and color design for her son Danny's dream lake house. Unfortunately she did not get to enjoy or see the completion of the home. After her retirement her son Danny bought her a new badass Trek bicycle that she really enjoyed. She would ride to downtown Niles, MI on the newly created bike trail twice a day. She enjoyed it so much that she would be disappointed when it rained.

Kathy also enjoyed fishing for perch and gardening. She did the landscaping at her son Joe's house. She wasn't too happy at first because she was out there eight hours a day all summer but her results are breathtaking to this very day for Joe. Her favorite thing to do was to watch the TV show, Gold Rush with her son Danny and their beautiful German Shepherd dog, Sonny.

Kathy will be missed by many people. She was compassionate, caring, funny, feisty and always ready to help anyone in need.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 19, 2019 in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., South Bend from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. when a service will be held with Rev. Ronald Drake officiating. Committal services and burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Family and friends may leave email condolences at www.welsheimer.com.
