GRANGER - Marguerite M. (Mike) Walker, 83, of Granger, IN, passed away on Saturday August 3, 2013. She was born on May 31, 1930 in Niles, MI, to Thomas E. and Marguerite L. Minnis who preceded her in death. She was also was preceded in death by her husband Jay on November 13, 2009 as well as by a brother, Philip M. Minnis and her sister Chrsitine Minnis.

On July 2, 1949 in Crown Point, IN she married Julius G. (Jay) Walker. She is survived by her two children, Cindy (Jim) Schaefges of Hoffman Estates, IL and Court (Debra) Walker of Granger, IN. She has one grandson, Kevin Walker, of Granger.

Marguerite was a graduate of Washington Clay High School in the class of 1947. She was also the prom queen in her senior year. She was a homemaker for her entire life, and was a devoted wife and mother. She attended Community Baptist Church in South Bend, IN, where she dearly loved to worship her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 7th in Community Baptist Church with Pastor David Pennington officiating. Committal services and burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 6th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
