Michael D. Heiden, Sr., 68, passed away on November 26, 2021 in South Bend, IN. Mike was born on August 11, 1953 in South Bend to William R., Sr., and Annabelle J. (Ewing) Heiden. He remained a lifelong area resident.

Mike, a self-employed contractor, was like his father in that he was a jack-of-all-trades. A great family man, with a loving soul, who would give anyone the shirt off his back, Mike will always be remembered for treating everyone with kindness.

An avid golfer, Mike was a four-year member of Clay High School’s golf team until his graduation in 1971. A member of the Knights of Columbus, he was three-time team champion of their annual State Golf Tournament. His younger brother, Bob, remembers Mike playing in a 9-hole league with their father, and shooting a 31 at the very challenging Hampshire Country Club. Mike loved to sing, too, and was a member of Clay High School’s swing choir.

Mike is survived by his wife, Sandra Ivey, with whom he shared 22 wonderful years; former spouse, Shirley (Radics) Heiden; three children, Elizabeth M. (Sen) McCartney, Michael D. Jr. (Amy) Heiden, and James C. Heiden; Sandra Ivey’s children, Tony (Heather), Todd, Shaun, and Tina (deceased); 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and siblings, William R. Jr. (deceased) (Rosemary) Heiden, Kathleen A. (Thomas Sr.) Heminger, Mary Heiden (deceased after birth), Patrick J. (Mitzi) Heiden, Robert J. Sr. (Michelle) Heiden, Janie A. (John Sr.) Emmons, and Lori A. (Christopher) Horan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30pm on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at St. Thérèse, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery on 61430 US-31 in South Bend. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30pm on Wednesday at church, prior to Mass.
