WHEATLAND, IN - Walter R. Wagner, 56, of Wheatland, died Friday, June 11th, and was laid to rest in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Vincennes, IN, on June 16th. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, July 3rd, in the First Church of Christ, 2240 Yankee Street, Niles, at 11 a.m., followed by a celebration of his life in the fellowship hall. He was born Aug. 22, 1953, in South Bend, the son of John Dale and Dolores (Pendl) Wagner.

He graduated from Clay High School in South Bend and Vincennes University. He was a master baker with Lewis Bakeries for over 18 years. He was an avid ND Fighting Irish and Pittsburgh Steelers fan; he enjoyed fishing and was known by many as "Santa Claus." He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Karen (Dickerson) Wagner; their children, Jessica of St. Francesville, IL, and Joshua, Joseph and Jacob, all of Wheatland.

He is also survived by his mother, Dolores Wagner of Niles; his brothers, Mike (Jody) Wagner of Niles, Ray (Nancy) Wagner of Davenport, IA, and Ron (Martha) Wagner of Jacksonville, FL; and sisters, Debbie Wagner of South Bend and Vicky Hess of Niles. He was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild. He has several nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
