David D. Lankford

David D. Lankford, 47, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009.

David was born on October 1, 1961 in South Bend and was a lifelong resident.

He was a graduate of Clay High School and attended Holy Cross College. He was the President and Owner of Lankford
Custom Homes, Inc. and Mirage Development, Inc.

He is survived by the loves of his life wife, Joy (Katona) Lankford; his son, Christian and his daughter, Holly. As well as, his mother and step-father, Cora and Marvin Colley of Mill Creek, IN; his two sisters, Brenda (Rob) Eubank of Jasper, IN and Cathy (Robbie) Rea of South Bend, IN; and his father-in-law, Mike Katona of Gig Harbor, WA.

Friends may call Tuesday, February 10 from 1-3 and 4-8 p.m. in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Clay United Methodist Church, North Campus, 52866 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend.

Dave was a loving husband and father who always put his family first. Active in his children�s lives, Dave coached Christian and Holly in soccer as well as Holly�s basketball team. Dave had a compassionate, kid friendly way of coaching that all of the kids loved. Dave shared his love of water sports with his family while spending many fun filled summer days on the lake. Dave�s caring personality and zest for life drew much of the community into a friendship no matter their age. You knew you were special to Dave when he pulled one of his practical jokes on you. He was an accomplished triathelete and had a passion for flying.

A board member of the Reins of Life and the St. Joseph Regional Medical Care Center Foundation, Dave was a generous and giving member of the community. He will be greatly missed by family and friends as well as the children whose lives he touched.
