John E. Haney

SOUTH BEND - John E. Haney, 83; father passed away peacefully with his wife of 62 years and his children by his side at 3:47 pm Monday, September 24, 2012, in the Sanctuary of St. Paul.
John was born January 22, 1929, in Ft. Wayne, IN, to the late John and Marie (Spurgeon) Haney.
John was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Strasser and Katherine Delker. On September 2, 1950, in South Bend, John married Joan (Buczynski) Haney, who survives along with children, Pamela (George) Kovatch of South Bend, Patricia Schlarb of South Bend and John (Amy) Haney of Muncie; two granddaughters, Debra Akey, Sarah Haney; and grandson, Nicholas Haney; great-grandchildren, Danielle Edstrom and Chad Edstrom; and sister, Rosemary Lengworth of Palm Desert, CA.
John was a very devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He served his country in the United States Navy and retired from the Postal Service after 38 years.
During the last 27 years of retirement, his pride and joy was taking care of his lawn and flowers and spending time with his wife and family.
