Edward Lee Barrier

South Bend -- Edward L. Barrier Sr., 61, residing in South Bend, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 24, 2005, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

Mr. Barrier was born on October 24, 1944, in South Bend, and had remained a lifelong resident. He was the president and field representative for Laborer's Local 645, South Bend.

On May 25, 1985, in South Bend, he married the former Sara Lynch, who survives. Along with his wife Sara, survivors include two daughters, Amanda (Mark) Sorgenfrei of Oahu, Hawaii, and Annette Barrier-Scheid of South Bend; two sons, Edward L. Barrier Jr. and Chad D. Barrier, both of South Bend; six grandchildren; his mother, Daisy Barrier of South Bend; and one brother, Richard C. (Nan) Barrier of Granger.

Mr. Barrier was preceded in death by his father, Roy C. Barrier, and by his brother, David Barrier.

Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2005, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, where a private funeral ceremony will be held on Friday. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
