Christine Ann McDonald, 70, residing in Mishawaka, passed away peacefully at 7:35 pm Thursday, September 8, 2016 in South Bend Hospice House. She was born September 15, 1945 in South Bend to the late William and Clara (Wlodarek) Beitler, and remained a lifelong area resident.

Christine married Michael Allen McDonald, who preceded her in death in July, 1985. She is survived by her daughter, Shelly (Glen) Blad of Mishawaka; grandsons, Michael William Lent and Brandon James Lent; sisters, Barb Szymczak of South Bend and Cathy (Gary) Paege of Texas; brother, Jim (Paula) Beitler of Granger; and nieces, Courtney and Kristin Paege. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jerry Szymczak.

Christine worked in registration for St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and was a longtime member of St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church.


Friends and family may gather from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Monday, September 12, 2016 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm. Rev. Thomas Shoemaker will officiate. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, where Christine will be laid to rest next to her husband, Michael.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Christine may be donated to Center for Hospice Care, c/o Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
