Leland D. “Lee” Bennett, 74, residing in South Bend, passed away at 10:48 am Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in Memorial Hospital. He was born April 27, 1944 in Dowagiac, MI to the late Raymond and Janice (Hill) Bennett and remained in the South Bend area for most of his life.

On June 18, 1966 in South Bend, Lee married the former Marsha N. Holland, who survives. In addition to his loving wife of 52 years, he is survived by his son, Mark Andrew Bennett of South Bend; daughter, Michele Lee (Eddie) Grudzinski of Osceola; grandchildren, Christian Hunt of South Bend, Brandon Hunt of Goshen and Mark, Tesla and Stormy Grudzinski; and great grandchildren, Ellianna Hunt, Derek Grudzinski, Wesson Wolak and Wyatt and Jesse Eby. Additionally, Lee is survived by brothers, Ralph L. (Henrietta) Bennett of Osceola, Thomas K. (Hilda) Bennett of Carmel, Raymond L. (Tommi) Bennett of Granger and John S. (Linda M.) Bennett of South Bend; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Gelow; and a brother, Fred Bennett.

Lee worked as a prototype technician for Tyler Refrigeration prior to retirement. He was a member of Journey Church in Granger. Lee was very conservative, loving God as well as his fellow man. He enjoyed camping, hunting, guns, jet skiing, motorcycling and watching Notre Dame football and hockey.

Funeral services for Lee will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Pastor Larry Lund will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Tuesday in the funeral home prior to services.
