LEWIS S. PETRASOVITS

Lewis S. Petrasovits Dec. 21, 1944 - Apri 13, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Lewis Petrasovits, 70, passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2015, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born in South Bend December 21, 1944, he was the son of the late John Joseph and Julia (Varga) Petrasovits. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Carol Pitcher and Sue Ann Petrasovits.

On October 9, 1976, Lew married his best friend and the love of his life, Mary Delahanty, who survives. Also left to cherish his memory are two sisters, Sharon Troutman and Judy Petrasovits, both of Granger; many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and his four-legged companion, Lucy.

Lew was proud of his service in the Air Force, being discharged in 1967, and of his 26-year membership at the Elks Lodge #235 where he held many officer positions. He currently held the honor of Secretary for the Lodge and was a past Exalted Ruler. He had many friends whom he and Mary love like family.

He was a 1963 graduate of Washington Clay High School and Sam's Technical Institute in Indianapolis. He retired from AT&T as a communications technician in 2012, and he and Mary had fun traveling, spending time with friends, and enjoying each day to the fullest. He was a kind and generous man and his sudden loss leaves a void in the hearts of many.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, from 2:00-6:00 pm at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd., where the Elks will perform a short service starting at 2 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday at St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka, Ave., Mishawaka, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Elks Lodge #235, 3535 McKinley Ave., South Bend, IN 46615; or to Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnett Dr., South Bend, IN 46614.
