Joan A. Wallace

May 13, 1927 - May 23, 1999

Joan A. Wallace, 72, formerly of Oakdale Avenue, Niles, Mich., died following an extended illness at 4:10 a.m. on Sunday, May 23, in Silverbrook Manor, Niles.

Mrs. Wallace was born on May 13, 1927, in South Bend, Ind., to Edward J. and Marie M. (Krueper) Mulligan, and lived in this area all of her life, graduating from Clay High School, South Bend.

She was employed for 13 years at the National-Standard Company, Niles.

On June 28, 1947, in South Bend, she was married to Lyle Richard ''Dick'' Wallace, who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1994.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan M. and Robert Witman of Niles; her grandson and his wife, Jeffrey and Tonya Witman of Niles; her great-grandsons, Corey Witman and Kyle Stanage; and by her sister, Mary A. Grix of South Bend.

Funeral services for Joan A. Wallace will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, in the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with the Rev. Joseph W. Koma, C.S.C. of Saint Mark Catholic Church, Niles, officiating. Committal services and entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Contributions in memory of Mrs. Wallace may be made to Hospice at Home.
