Walter Douglass, 55, of Darlene Court, Granger, Ind., passed away at noon Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Walter was born on March 15, 1948, in South Bend, Ind., and was a lifelong area resident. Walter was preceded in death by his father, Emerson B. Douglass.

Walter was a Army veteran. He was employed by S.B.C. as a telephone technician for 36 years, retiring in 2003. Walter was a member of the Prince of Peace Brethren Church, South Bend.

Walter married Sandra L. Hoffner in South Bend on Oct. 24, 1970. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Michael A. Douglass of Richmond, Ky., and Johnathon C. Douglass of South Bend; and one grandchild, Daniel M. Douglass of Richmond. He is also survived by one brother, Emerson Douglass of South Bend; two sisters, Sharon Boyd of South Bend and Nina Morgan of Florida; and by his mother, Eugenia A. Douglass of Florida.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, Ind., where friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Walter was a very outgoing person, with many friends, and was a very loving husband and father.
