SOUTH BEND - Fern Baker, 68, of South Bend died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in her home. She was born July 2, 1948 in South Bend to Dorothy (Held) and Wayne Wisler and was a lifetime area resident.
On June 26, 1999 in South Bend she married Wesley R. Baker who died in 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Dana Zarate of Mishawaka; son Nick Zarate (Arlene) of New Carlisle, IN; five grandchildren, Roisin, Jinead, Aisling, and Rory Zarate, and Rondo Kelly; a brother, Wayne Wisler (Kathleen) of Hudson, FL; and three nieces.
Fern retired from Memorial Hospital as an EEG Specialist and had also worked for St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Fern enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and belonging to Parents without Partners. Her family and grandchildren were the most important thing in her life as well as the good friends she made along the way.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3rd in the Welshemer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Goshen, IN. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
