Armond W. Hacker, 82, of Filbert Road, Granger, passed away in South Bend, Indiana, following an illness.

He was born December 20, 1922, in South Bend, to Floyd and Irene (Berneart) Hacker, who both preceded him in death.

On September 8, 1945, in Mishawaka, Indiana, he married the former Mary Sykonnyk. She survives with a son, Gary Michael (Mary) Hacker of Mishawaka; and a daughter, Cheryl (Don) Blemker of Newbergh, Indiana. A brother, Bernard (Evelyn) Hacker also survives; as well as four grandchildren, Doug Blemker, Jason (Jenny) Hacker, Adam (Monica) Hacker and Jenny (Mike) Blahnik; three great-grandchildren, Riley Hacker, Skyler Hacker and Jacob Hacker; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Alan Hacker, who died in 1969; and by a grandson, Michael Vergon.

Mr. Hacker was employed by South Bend Lathe as a machine tool designer for 50 years, retiring in 1995. He was a Cub Master, Scout Master and Scout Leader for many years, and was an usher at Notre Dame for 25 years. He was a member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church where he was active in the St. Pius Euchre Club, and also was an avid Notre Dame Fan who enjoyed traveling to many out-of-town football games.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Pius X Catholic Church on Monday, November 7, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. today in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, and also one hour prior to the services at St. Pius X. A Rosary will be said at 3:00 p.m. today in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow the services Monday at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Pius X Catholic Church Building Fund.
