NILESRobert John "Jack" Cinninger, 86, of Niles, Michigan, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011, at his home.

Jack was born March 19, 1925, in Renville County, North Dakota. He had lived in the Niles area since 1937, and served in the US Army from June 1943 - February 1946. For his service in the Army, he received the following medals: Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 bronze service stars, World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button WW II, and was in line to receive honors from the French government.

He was a member of the American Legion Niles Post since 1974. He loved to treasure hunt with his metal detector, loved his family's athletics, his grandson's music, and he liked to fish with good friends. He worked at French Paper Company in Niles and retired after 38 years.

On September 17, 1949, he married Charlotte Mae Marrs, who survives. He is also survived by three sons, John Robert (Margaret) Cinninger, Paul Patrick Cinninger, Craig Allen (Julie) Cinninger; two daughters, Kim Kerry (Lane) Ehninger and Gail Ann Cinninger (David Lytle); six grandchildren, Jacob (Katherine) Cinninger, Jeromy Manville, Amanda CinningerRobert John Cinninger, Ellie (Matthew) Malik and Erin Ehninger; and four great-grandchildren, Alexa Marie, Townes Jacob, Brayden and Gabriel.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Duella Sophia Cinninger; one grandchild, Tara Cinninger; one brother, James Cinninger; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Wood and Verna Roder.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank Hospice at Home for their outstanding care and kind concern.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home in Buchanan, Michigan, or to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are being handled by Hoven Funeral Home.
