Anna Marie Graf (Ades)

Anna Marie Ades

May 19, 1925 - Mar. 27, 2003

Anna Marie Ades was born on May 19, 1925, to Frank and Esther Graf. She was the last of eight children, having seven older brothers.

She spent her entire lifetime growing up on a farm located at the corner of Cleveland and Juniper Roads. In 1943 she graduated from Washington Clay High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the Girls Athletic Association. Upon graduation Anna became an airline stewardess and eventually enrolled in the nursing program at St. Joseph Hospital.

Anna and Donald Eugene Bucher were united in marriage July 29, 1949. Their only child, Dianne, was born in October 1950. For many years she was a housewife and then a secretary. Her husband Don passed away in July 1967. She remarried Dr. Clifford Ades in 1973. During this period and until her illness began, she was a staunch member of the Republican Party and was active in many campaign elections and voting duties. Anna loved to travel and was very proud to have visited 48 states. She was a faithful euchre player at the Howard Park Senior Center and enjoyed the friendships of her many friends. Summer picnics at the German Club and the Isaac Walton League were old- time favorites.

After a short and courageous battle with cancer, she leaves behind to remember her a daughter, Dianne and husband, Robert Bumeft; three grandchildren, Sarah, Emily and Jacob; and two great- grandchildren, Aaron and Maci; one niece, Jackie Redmen; and nephews, Mike and John Graf; and a very special lifetime friend, Laure Leeke VanMeter. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff on the fourth floor of Our Lady of Peace Hospital for their terrific, tender and compassionate care during a tough illness. Also, a very special thank you to Viola Staum who was an angel watching over my mom for many, many years. I'm sure there are others I haven't met that she was fond of. You have all made her life happier and I thank you.

Services to commemorate the celebration of Anna's life will be Thursday, April 3, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Little Flower Catholic Church on Ironwood Road. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial in Anna's name may send them to Benzie County Christian Neighbors in Buelah, MI 49717.
